More from Why? Why Not
Here are two adorable kids to wish you a Merry Christmas. The artwork is by vintage artist, Ruth Welch Silver. The cherub-like children are wide-eyed in anticipation of the delights of the holidays. Ms. Silver sets her subjects away from clutter to make them the focus of the cards. One child looks eager to play with the small gathering of toys and books surrounded by holly. The other blows a horn in celebration while tiny elves in red pretend to be guards amid holly in the lower right corner. Both cards have some writing on the back. One has a canceled one cent stamp still affixed. The other has a 1923 Christmas Seals stamp; it was never posted. Both cards are in good shape with only slight darkening. Corners remain fairly sharp.
