Hand thrown by master craftsman potter, Miguel Angel Ratto (Kinoto), of Ibiza, Spain, this handsome case features doves in flight around the bottom and floral design around the top. Scraffito has been used to set the decoration in clay when it was leather-hard. Underglaze was used to apply the coloration before firing. The sedate decoration makes the piece appear handsome; the doves are in shadow on a darkened sky of brown. The flowers are white to transition between the dark green top and the brown of the body. The signature is strong, having been scratched into the red clay bottom. Can-Kinoto-St. Rafel-Eivissa. Measurements are 11 inches tall, 1 7/8 inches diameter at the top and 2 1/2 inch base. This piece is in excellent condition.
