The artist who decorated this plate had a fine hand. The detail work is superb. The center medallion has a colorful bird perched on a rock outcrop alongside a pink blossom. But it is the four butterflies surrounding the gold band defining the center that I find fantastic. There is green scroll work on top of gold bands radiating toward the edge. The four open fields feature colorful long-tailed birds, butterflies, and beetles amid more pink blossoms. This piece is more of a shallow bowl than a plate. Stilt marks are found on the unmarked bottom. Unfortunately, past owners have used various types of tape for some reason and residue remains, including black electrical tape. My heart sank when I found a hairline crack which extends through to the front, the price has been discounted as a result. Regardless, this stunning piece of art deserves to be displayed and enjoyed. Sold as is. 9 3/4 inches in diameter.
