This English Ironstone China round butter dish with handled lid is from the J & G Meakin China Company of Hanley, England. It features the Genoa transfer pattern in green with gold accents. Underneath the green transfer decoration, the white china blank has small embossed flowers; this can especially be seen around the base of the lid handle. There is little to no crazing to this piece which measures 8 inches at its widest point. This shallow dish has a scalloped edge with gold rim. The lid measures 5 1/2 inches across. The handle is 1 1/2 inches across. The piece is clearly marked with green ink: Genoa, J & G MEAKIN, HANLEY! ENGLAND. An old piece is very good to excellent condition.
