For the collector of vintage games or of William Boyd's beloved character, here is the game board for the 1950 Hopalong Cassidy game by Milton Bradley. This 18.5 x 18.75 inch game board survives in very good condition. The back of the board is covered in heavy red paper with a painted black silhoutte of Hopalong on his galloping horse above the name Hopalong Cassidy. The spine is covered in a heavy black tape. This board and spine have only minor paper loss. The inside paper gaming field remains vibrant with a field of yellow and orange on which scenes from the journey of the game such as mountains, mines, Indians. outlaws on horseback and even ornery critters like snakes and mountain lions are shown. The center features an image of Hopalong Cassidy wearing a sheriff's badge, red neck scarf and black hat atop his white horse. Beneath this image: Copyright Wm. Boyd, 1950. The bottom markings: 4047x, Milton Bradley Co., Springfield, Mass. - New York - Chicago. The inside paper has begun to split along the center spine; 3 inches at the bottom; 2.5 inches at the top. There are no game pieces, nor of the original box remaining.
