What a book! Real Navy photos plus cartoons by Gene Brynes make this book a prize. This book was published during the WWII to assist with the morale of the U.S. citizens after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. There is a statement of gratitude by Mr. Brynes , "for a grand job in punishing our treacherous enemies and helping to rid the world of the vicious forces who would destroy us. Long live the United States Navy." The fun in the book is the full color cartoons super imposed on nautical emblems. Brynes' cartoon fellers are on pages in-between the actual U.S. Navy official photographs of our finest aircraft carriers, destroyers, cruisers, and submarines. This 11 x 8.5 inch volume was published by Ver Halen Publications and distributed by the Brockway Co Inc. of New York, NY . The book is in good shape with few flaws. The top corner of the spine has a paper rip. The center section of pages has begun to separate from the rest of the book. There is a tear along the spine on the front cover. A mouse has nibbled on the edge of the back cover. This book would be a worthy gift for the Navy man or the Brynes cartoon enthusiast.
