This handsome hand hammered copper plate is marked "Marquette," Mich. This mark appears to be an ink mark and refers to the famed copper region of the state of Michigan. At 8.5 inches in diameter, it is a good size for a man's dresser dish or a wall hanging. The ruffled border measures one inch wide and features a chiseled lip and stamped arcs repeating around the entire border. The central depression is 1/2 inch lower than the ruffled edge and is dimpled by the punch of the artisan. This piece has a dark, rich patina. There are no scratches or dents.
