Inscribed June 1908, the condition of this book surprised me. It is in pristine condition. No dirt, no rips or tears, no stains. The corners are crisp. The topic intrigued me as a former teacher of sciences, including biology. "The Story of Germ Life" by H. W. Conn. The illustrations are of the type biology, zoology, and botany students were trained to draw to increase their observation skills. The 1897 copyright tells me this book was cutting edge information when published following the development of the microscope. From the Library of Useful Stories, the information contained within certainly was useful at the time to educate people about causes of disease as well as the usefulness of bacteria in industry. This hardbound book measures 6 1/8 x 4 1/4 x 1/2 inches.
