Has Cupid taken a vacation? Has Tom Sawyer taken over Cupid's job? The face on this boy screams Ellen H. Clappsaddle. It is signed along the sidewalk but is very faint. This lovely child has an angelic face framed by his short brown hair topped by a big straw hat. He walks barefoot past that famous board fence on St. Valentine's Street. A heart under one arm and another hangs from a big wishbone. A huge arrow peeks out from the other arm. He is dressed in a white shirt (hole in the elbow), blue rolled up pants (patched on the knee) and red suspenders. A cute little dog is stepping out with him. Message: "Forever thine, Sweet Valentine. To my Sweetheart." The divided back bears the logo of the International Art Publishing Co. New York Berlin Printed in Germany. Series 1230. There is writing in light pencil on the back. It has not been posted. There is a crease starting at the bottom, extending about 1 inch. See photos.
