This is one cool serving set. I don't want to label it as a salad set, because in today's world, I see so many more possibilities. The star of this set is an 11.25 inch diameter bowl with an unusual amethyst interior. It looks more like a pretty grape purple to me. The outside has an oriental feel to me. The glaze is pink over a pattern that looks like a woven grass basket on a black pedestal of 1.75 inches tall. The foot is 4.5 inches in diameter. It has a great McCoy USA mark followed by 408. The players are 4 smaller bowls 5 inches in diameter each marked McCoy USA on the bisque bottom. The grapey purple is repeated inside each with the pink woven grass outside. The condition is very good with only a small glaze skip on the outside of the biggest bowl. This bowl has the look and feel of an oriental wok. How fun it would be to serve stirfry out of it to your guests?
