This set of Fulper Pottery 'Book' bookends stand 5" high by 4.75" across by 3" wide. They have a classic form, with an open book sitting atop a closed book, perfect for a library. They are glazed in a signature Fulper flambe glaze in green and white with touches of blue. There is a factory hole in the top of each bookend, as if intended for a quill or other writing instrument. This set of bookends is marked with a Fulper racetrack oval ink stamp on the base of one. According to new research by John Kornacki, whose article was recently published in the Journal of the American Art Pottery Association, this set dates to 1917-1934. This enlightening article about Fulper's marking system is a primer for collectors and dealers alike. Visit www.aapa.info for information about joining the AAPA. This set of bookends is in excellent condition, with a very good restoration to a factory clay pull on the bottom rear corner of one bookend. They make a very handsome presentation!
