This Fulper urn/vase stands an impressive 7.5" high by 10.5" in diameter. It has a large broad form with a tapered rim opening, shape number 58, referenced as an 'ovoid bowl'. It is glazed in a handsome combination of flambe and matte glazes in a thick flowing blue/green stormy glaze, randoming flowing over the rim and shoulders, covering an organic matte violet blue glaze. This vase is marked on the base, and according to new research by John Kornacki, whose article was recently published in the Journal of the American Art Pottery Association, this vase dates to 1917-1927. This enlightening article about Fulper's marking system is a primer for collectors and dealers alike. Visit www.aapa.info for information about joining the AAPA. It is in excellent condition, with a very good restoration to a simple chip on the base edge. This large and heavy urn vase makes a great Arts & Crafts presentation!
