This Steve Abee miniature jug stands 3" high by 2.75" in diameter. Steve Abee is a potter from Lenoir, NC, whose pots are classic southern folk art face jugs and swirled pots, made in the old tradition of the 1930s Catawba Valley pots of old, like the pots of masters Propst and Reinhardt. This jug has a classic form with a handle topping the shoulder. This little guy is glazed in a handsome and organic ash alkaline glaze, in black, which covers the pot to near the bottom, leaving the red clay body exposed, and accented with a simple blue drip of glaze. It is finished to satin sheen. This jug is well marked on the base, and it bears an earlier mark for Abee, 'SEA', which stands for 'Steven Edward Abee'. This pot is in factory mint condition, with the usual factory glaze nuances, which all add character to the pot. If you like southern folk art pots, or those made in the old tradition of the Catawba Valley pots, this miniature jug form would make a very handsome addition to your collection for sure!
