Isoda Koryusai (1764-1788), 'Two Beauties on a Bench'from 'The Syllable Nu: Courtesans of the Tsuruya: Chôzan, kamuro Sakura and Hamaji; Hinazuru, kamuro Yasoji and Yasono'; from the book 'High-ranking Courtesans of Edo'. This Surimono (Poetry) print depicts two Courtesans seated on a bench, in front of a window, with a springtime view, and poetry script above. It is a very colorful print, with wonderfully refined features. It bears publisher marks, and date seals, along with 'Surimono' and Koryusai's mark. This print is in excellent original condition, with some no harm paper fray on the right margin from being tipped in a book. It is unframed and it measures 10.75" high by 7" wide. This woodblock was originally published c1775, this print is c1950. P3418
