This very scarce, if not rare pyrography plaque measures a monumental 22" high by 17" across by just under 1/2" thick. It was produced by the Flemish Art Company in New York at the turn of the last century. It is a nice early Flemish plaque in a very desirable motif of a beautiful Native American Indian Maiden, which is deeply carved and accented with red and green stains of color. There are very nicely carved accent details from tip to toe. The original patina is a lush beautiful brown. It has a hanging cord on the backside, and has two small holes, one at the top and another at the bottom from flat placement on a wall. This plaque does bear the Flemish Art mark, #841 on the backside. It is in original condition, which shows normal wear and a small area of veneer missing on the lower backside. The main wooden plaque has a veneer on the face, and another on the backside, all fused to join at just under 1/2" wide. The missing veneer is on the rear, so the plaque's presentation is great. There are the usual wood splits from more than 100 years of age, but again, nothing to interfere it's rich presentation. This vintage plaque of a stunning Indian Maiden makes a very beautiful Arts & Crafts presentation.
