Snow, Moon, Flowers: Lady Tokiwa Gozen Fleeing Kyoto with her Three Sons
This woodblock print depicts Lady Tokiwa fleeing Kyoto during the Heiji rebellion. She is shown with her infant and a young son. The infant son became the legendary Samurai warrior 'Minamoto'. As the story goes, she is captured, but manages to save her sons by serving as a concubine. This panel is part of a triptych, the third panel. It bears the artist and publisher seals. It dates to 1889. This print measures 14.75" x 10". This print is in good condition, with some soiling near the lower edge of the print, and a crease in the lower left corner edge. P3527
