This is a beautifully hand-chased coin silver cake or pie server. It was perhaps a wedding or anniversary gift, with a perfect heart engraved at the serving tip. The elaborate design and shape lead us to believe that it was made between 1860 and 1880. The length is 9 inches, and the width at the widest point is 2 3/4 inches. The back of the handle is marked simply "Coin," denoting that it is .900 silver. The maker and the pattern name are unknown. The condition is excellent. There are no dents, warps, monograms, breaks, or other problems. It show only light wear. This item weighs 54.2 grams.
