This brilliantly colored ginger jar has hand-applied decorations that feature a white crane, lily pads, and flowers. The background is deep turquoise, with a pink lily flower, green leaves, and green and yellow tendrils. This pottery jar and lid was made by hand, decorated by hand, and painted by hand. It measures 4 1/4 inches tall, and 4 inches wide. There are no signatures. The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, crazing, or losses. We believe it dates from between 1890 and 1920, with the crane and lily pads being clues that it is from the Art Nouveau era. We are not certain if it is lead-glazed, or tin-glazed.
