This miniature, beautifully hand-painted, porcelain pot may have been designed for sake or for tea. The pot has a little lid that sinks inside the handle, and a matching under-plate. The under-plate measures 3 3/4 inches wide and the set is 3 1/4 inches tall when all stacked together. The condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing. There is no sign that it has ever been used. It is signed on the base of the pot with blue under-glaze characters, which we were unable to identify. The chrysanthemum pattern is in cobalt blue on white. We believe this item was made in the early to mid-20th century.
