This is a hand-painted blue and white porcelain dish believed to be from the late 18th or early 19th century. It measures 6 1/2 inches long, 5 1/2 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches tall. It is basically an oval shape with a somewhat scalloped rim. The reverse is also hand-painted. There are no marks on the base. This early dish has two issues, which are shown in the photos. There is a 1 inch long hairline that extends from the rim toward the center; more visible from the back than the front. There is also an early repair of a chip, also more visible from the back from the front. We estimate that this dish was made in Japan in the late 18th or early 19th century. Other than the two mentioned issues, the dish is in excellent condition. There are no other chips or cracks, and there is no crazing.
