This late 19th century pair of carved wood sconces each measure 4 3/8 inches long, 6 1/2 inches wide, and 3 7/8 inches deep. The angels, and underside of the shelves all have a gold wash, while the top of the shelves are the wood without the gold. Each has a metal hanger applied to the back with three early 20th century flat-head screws. The thin, back edge of the shelves each have holes indicating that the current hangers are replacements for missing earlier, original hangers (probably wire). There is one gilt surface flake on the right side wing of each sconce. They measure about 3/8 by 3/8 inch, and 1/8 by 3/8 inch respectively; both are barely noticeable. Otherwise, there are no other chips, no breaks, and no repairs. These show normal wear, The country of origin is unknown, but believed to be Italy or France.
