These large oval décor pieces are classic vintage items that graced the walls of many of a fine home in the early part of this century. This pair dates to circa 1870s-1880s and features softly colored, rice painted cockatiels among flowers.
They are in molded frames with a raised gilded plaster design. As to be expected with age, the raised design is worn in a few places, but could easily be touched up with some gold paint. The frames are quite substantial and in very good condition with just one or two very small nicks. The pieces hang from substantial picture wire which is sturdily attached to rings on the back.
Measurements: Each one measures approximately 36” H by 26” W.
They each have a sticker on the back with what was apparently an item number. One is “JRO-1140A 909373A” and the other is “JRO1140B 909373B.” There is evidence of an additional oval-shaped gold foil sticker that had a blue edge, but there’s not enough of it left on either one to make anything out.
