While it is always difficult to determine the age of any bronze artifact, we can turn to provenance to authenticate to a degree. This also dispels certain myths. This vessel and several others were purchased in China from a government warehouse for antiquities. This had been required by the government in the 1960's from a private museum.
This vessel was used for ritual serving of Chinese Bur. It is believed to be Qing about 1820 copy of a Lhow dynasty vase from 100 B.C. The only problem is, they were not sure this 6 Mej 19th-century copy!
