These vintage 1992 Yesteryear Kasper's coffee advertising mug represent the A. J. Kasper coffee company of Chicago. Adam Kasper was head of the A.J. Kasper Company, a coffee & tea importer and wholesaler.
A. J. Kasper was born in St. John, IN in 1852. At age 16, he left for Chicago to make his fortune, first working for a retail grocery. He soon earned a partnership, but wanted to expand, so he entered the wholesale grocery business of Forsythe & Co. in 1875. In 1877, he connected himself to Durand & Co., where he was placed in charge of the coffee department. He became the youngest coffee buyer in Chicago. Mr. Kasper and associates established themselves in the coffee and tea line as a specialty and the company incorporated in 1907. The aim of the company was to give the public a high standard of value and the greatest possible value for their money.
The mug was made by Yesteryear Brand by Westwood. It measures 3.5" in diameter, 3 3/8" tall and has a 2.25" handle. Each mug holds approximately 11 oz. The graphics are good with no scratches. There are some imperfections but they all appear to be made during the manufacturing of the mug. There are no chips.
If you want a big cup of coffee in the morning, these mugs are for you!
