This Johnson Smith & Company Art of Ventriloquism and novelty catalogue booklet is copyrighted 1940. It is filled with 32 pages of pictures and instructions on ventriloquism or the art of throwing your voice. It has also over a 36 page catalogue of some of the weirdest novelties of all times: live alligators, pranks, jokes, risqué books, jewelry, radios, toys, nose flutes, and even fake marriage licenses. All of it, by today's standards was incredibly affordable and a lot of it was not even being close to being politically correct and was insulting to several ethnic groups. In other words it was a product of its times. Some people look back and call it the good old days, but I can see by the products for many not everything was not good.

The booklet measures 5-1/4'' x 7-5/8''. It is in fair vintage condition with age discoloration and brittle pages some missing a corner. These missing corners are found mainly in the catalogue pages.

This would make a great collector gift or addition to any Johnson Smith, Handcuff, Mystery, Magic, Magician, Ventriloquist, Ventriloquism, Puppet, and Novelty, Booklet or Ephemera collection!
