This vintage Guardian Service durable aluminum ware gravy boat and under plate dates back to at least mid-50's and possibly to the mid-30's.
Century Metalcraft Corporation of Los Angeles, California manufactured Guardian Service cookware from the mid-1930s until 1956, when the plant burned down. Independent salesman sold Guardian Service cookware similar to the way that Tupperware was sold. A hostess would host a party at their house, and invite several of their friends over. At these dinner parties, the Guardian Service salesman would prepare a delicious meal for the guests, all in hopes of selling them some of the iconic cookware.
In very good condition with years of service left in it, the boat measures 8.25" long and 4.5" wide. The base of the boat is 3.25" in length and 2.75" wide. The under plate measures 9" long and 5.25" wide. The boat is marked J on the bottom. The under plate is marked: Guardian Service with the GS trademark Knight. This is a great addition to any Guardian Service collection or is a great starter piece for someone who loves vintage quality.
