A wonderful example of Fabergé-style guilloché enameling technique makes this Russian Egg rare and special. The initials “HW,” stamped on the bottom of the stand, is that of work master Henrik Wigstrom (1862-1923), the 20th-century artist who was a crucial craftsman for the Fabergé company.

A vibrant, translucent red enamel covers a wavy guilloche background pattern on the body of the egg. Additional embellishments include chased and engraved laurel festoons and ribbons in tri-color 14k gold, and 16 round Rubies, bezel set in 14k rose gold, decorate the bows that encircle the egg. A total of 189 rose-cut Diamonds add accents of sparkle surrounding the egg. The top of the egg is hinged and opens to reveal a darling Sterling Silver elephant with Ruby eyes and a gold crown. The inside of the top is covered in white fluffy velvet to protect the elephant. The egg is housed in a nifty wooden box for safe keeping. This whole piece is in excellent condition.
