Handcrafted ring dating to the Victorian era. Made of solid 10K rose gold displaying a polished Persian Turquoise gemstone securely held in eight prongs that are built in to the design of the ring. You can see the matrix of the Turquoise from the underside of the ring, which is quite rare. Pictured as received from a local estate with undisturbed natural aged patina. Cleaning or polishing are available by request at no additional cost.
Turquoise has the oldest documented history of all gems. The first use of turquoise was in Mesopotamia. Beads dating back 5000 years have been found. Turquoise was the first gem mineral to be mined by man.
Queen Victoria’s love of turquoise was quite apparent and upon her marriage to Albert, she gave portrait rings to her ladies-in-waiting. Each miniature portrait of the Queen was surrounded by turquoise cabochons. Tiny turquoise cabochons were commonly pave set in mid-Victorian jewelry. Turquoise enjoyed a resurgence in the late Victorian era and was set in rings, brooches, and earrings but in larger sizes than in earlier periods.
Layaway up to 6 months is available with a 20% deposit and regular monthly payments. To begin a layaway just commit to purchase on Ruby Lane with “layaway” in the comment section and I will schedule payments through PayPal.
