This item is a PAIR OF HAND CARVED HERALDIC PLAQUES. These are very old possibly dating to the 8th century. Carved out of oak, they picture a pair of knights in fighting poses, one facing to the left and the other faces right. Each plaque measures 10 1/2" by 20". The carvings are deep and detailed. The plaques are in very good condition but do display nicks, etc. from the several centuries they have existed.
