This item is a MILNE’S CHAMPAGNE TAP IN FITTED LEATHER CASE. This is a real find because it includes the two taps. The tap falls into the bottle when the cork is penetrated and they are commonly thrown out when the bottle is emptied - it is a champagne party after all. We often see these sets without the taps. The tap measures 4 1/2” long. These taps were used both for Champagne bottles and soda water bottles as well. The tap would be threaded into the cork until the Tap fell off. The gaseous effervescence would propel the champagne or soda water out of the bottle when the small valve at the top of the tap was opened and closed. Thevtap and points come in an original leather case with working latch.
