This item is an unusual ART NOUVEAU STYLE BLACK FOREST BAROMETER. It is handsomely carved and is in excellent condition and good working order. It features a stag decoration at the top, a porcelain thermometer, a nicely beveled glass, a paper face marked in German and an open escapement. The face is marked - A. Volimeister, Optiker, Zwickau, iS. This would have been a custom made piece for this particular optician. This was somewhat common for Black Forest factories to make items customized for retailers to sell. This barometer measures 20” by 8”.
