This English salt glaze stoneware jug is not marked but undoubtedly the work of Doulton Lambeth. The jug has a pewter lid and high relief decorations of men enjoying their ale! The top band of images are the men with their ale and the bottom band of relief work shows a man on horseback trailing behind a pack of dogs who are chasing a deer. The jug is in excellent antique condition with the exception of a darkened area under the horse and rider, probably from the firing in the kiln. There is a number '2' beside the handle indicating the size of the jug. The jug, including the lid, stands 8.5 inches tall and the body of the jug measures 5.5 inches.
