This outstanding silver plateau would have been made about 1910. The piece is decorated with garlands of roses between 5 lion faces, and rests on 5 lion claw feet. There are 2 rows of 'egg and dart' decoration closest to the mirror. There is a 3/4 inch piece of mahogany holding the mirror in place. The condition of the silver plating is exceptional with no signs of wear or excess rubbing. There is on small flake of glass missing at the edge and seen in the 9 o'clock position in the second photo, mentioned for accuracy but barely noticeable. There is no maker's mark to the piece but the lion motif would indicate English or American manufacture. The mirror surface has a diameter of 10.25 inches and the outside measurement of the frame is 14 inches. This is an exceptional piece and the perfect size for many dining tables or sideboards.
