Victorian Straw Work Trinket Box with Flower Motif

This Victorian straw work box has a flower motif on the lid made from tiny pieces of colored straw like a micro mosaic. The floral decoration is 2 large cabbage roses. surrounded by green leaves. The entire box is covered in straw that has been intricately cut and glued to the surface of the box. The workmanship is quite incredible! The box is lined with embossed foil that is showing some signs of age and wear. The hinges are strong and there is no warping to the lid. The key is missing. There is very minor loss to each front corner edge as would be expected from a piece of this age. It measures 7 x 4 x 2.75 inches.
