Antique Victorian Bohemian Garnet Locket Brooch
£895 ~ $1,190
Antique Jewellery of Distinction
An exciting complement of family owned companies specialising in beautiful and distinctive antique jewellery.
An exquisite antique Victorian Bohemian garnet locket/ brooch, featuring a three-tier gallery and scalloped border, abundantly decorated with clusters of rose cut garnets, including the loop at the top. The stones vary in size and exhibit a blazing-red hue and neat triangular facets that glitter beautifully when they catch the light.
Bohemian Garnet jewellery is desired for its abundance of rose cut garnets, also known as pyrope crystals. They were originally sourced in the region of Bohemia, which later became the Czech Republic and were highly sought after across Europe in the late 19th Century with their crimson red flame associated with passion and enduring love.
The piece is fashioned in a gold composite, known as “garnet gold” and is fitted with a large glass window locket at the back, along with a newer pin and locking catch, so it can also be worn as a brooch depending on the occasion.
This wonderful Victorian garnet locket is in excellent condition and dates to the late 19th Century. It’s the perfect place to store a treasured photograph, or even a lock of hair as was traditionally the case.
