Exquisite and rare antique French Louis-Philippe era Vermeil 54pc dessert flatware set, with handles and stems finely decorated both sides with sinuous scrolling foliate, floral and shell motifs. Complete with its original 2-tiered leather storage chest, the set comprises 3-piece place settings for EIGHTEEN : 18 Dessert Forks, 18 Dessert Spoons, and 18 Dessert Knives (with vermeil silver blades). Each piece, including knife blades & handles, is stamped with the French Minerve .800 standard silver (almost sterling) mark, and maker's mark for Parisian master silversmith Charles BUZOT, active in 1835. Five knife blades have a "PG" maker's mark. The fitted chest features a brass handle and cartouche on the lid, and though missing part of one clasp is overall in good antique condition.
