Exceptional antique French sterling silver 21.7" oval serving tray or platter of 18th century "gibier" game platter form, the marly engraved with an interlaced monogram and a crown of a French marquis surmounted by a rampant lion. Very finely crafted from the highest quality silver, it is stamped with the French Minerve 1st standard silver mark (.950) on border and base, and carries the maker's marks and signature for prestigious Parisian silversmith Emile PUIFORCAT, active in 1857. Professionally cleaned by our Parisian silversmith, condition is excellent with just light signs of use commensurate with age to note.
