... "They can play with it."
This is a genuine original magazine advertisement from a 1971 issue of the LIFE.
This full-colour, vintage toy ad features a selection of the then newly-launched range of toys and games licensed by Children's Television Workshop and Jim Henson's Muppets, Inc. in the wake of the success of the kids' TV show. The commercial tie-in playthings were "Products of Educational Toy, Inc., a subsidiary of Topper Corporation."
Pictured in this 1971 dated ad are the Bert and Ernie hand puppets, as well as the Cookie Monster and Oscar - "the world's most lovable 'Grouch'" - ones. There's also the bendable Big Bird figure (by the familiar street sign lamp post), along with a Spell-A-Phone, Walking Letters, and Sherlock Hemlock Magic Puzzles. There are large measures of nostalgia and fun connected with these beloved characters as they, and their many Muppet friends, have entertained and educated millions of boys and girls for over four decades.
This LARGE 1970s advert measures 10" x 13 1/4" (approx.). The image of this piece of television and toy-related advertising memorabilia / ephemera has been accommodated completely by a large-format scanner. This Seventies print ad is in very good condition and is eminently suitable for framing.
