Lovely antique Lapis Lazuli and Seed Pearl ring designed in 14 karat yellow gold. (tested)
The inside of the ring appears to have a partial date which reads, MAR on one side of the under gallery and 66 on the other side. It appears that other marks have been worn away over time.
As the Grand Victorian Period falls within this timeframe 1860-1885, I am estimating that (at least) the head of the ring is most likely from this period. Lapis was a popular gemstone during this period, as was the use of seed pearls to ornament gemstones.
I suspect that the head of the ring may have been a pendant or pin at some point and redesigned into a ring. The reconstruction appears to have been carefully designed as the ring is well made and in lovely condition. The under gallery looks as though it has been reinforced. I am guessing the method used to marry the two pieces together.
The structure of the ring is very sound, while the gemstone and pearls are secure so there should be no worries with this lovely old ring.
Tested 14 karat gold. No stamps or marks.
Weight, 5.0 grams.
A beautiful ring on the hand. Very striking as the lapis lazuli and seed pearls contrast nicely.
A generous amount of pyrite is evident within the lapis.
One shoulder of the ring has only minimal surface scratching. The ring is considered in very nice antique condition commensurate with age.
