This is a wonderful minimalistic slider Y necklace from the 1970s. The necklace is made of sterling silver with 14K gold plating (the necklace is gold colored even though it looks silver in the photography). It is part of Monet's fine line of jewelry called Ciani. Ciani was marketed as "Real Jewelry for Real People". The necklace has a diamond-shaped theme with the centerpiece sliding up and down the chain. The clasp is engraved "© CIANI and STER". A very unique and fashionable necklace perfect for work!
I was able to find an old stock of Ciani brown velvet gift pouches (never used) and one will be included with your purchase. I also added a few photos (pages 232 and 234) about Ciani jewelry from the book "Monet, The Master Jewellers" by Alice Vega.
Ciani was created in 1977 to offer women jewelry they could wear outside the home while working in offices and large corporations. Ciani paid attention to detail with their line of jewelry as they wanted the customer to know they were purchasing an extremely valuable and special piece of jewelry. Ciani ceased operations in 1983 after the price of gold hit an all time high and they couldn't continue making updated merchandise at the prices customers had come to expect. Only in production for eight years, Ciani jewelry is a collector's item today.
