This is a superb brooch that has all the glamorous qualities that platinum and diamond present. Beautifully crafted in 850 platinum, in France, it dates back to the period of the Art Nouveau, but seems to have softly morphed into the Art Déco period (1910 - 1930).

The Art Nouveau/Art Déco period (1895-1935) flourished in the 1920s in France, in Europe and elsewhere in the US. The Art Deco derived its name from the Exposition des Arts Décoratif et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925. It quickly became a celebrated period in art history.

This beautiful brooch features an intricate open work. A delicate millegrain stylized design forms the base of 4 European-cut diamonds, bezel set (approximately 2.8mm each) and 51 single-cut diamonds, prong set (approximately 2.1mm each), for a total of over 2 carats. All the diamonds are matching perfectly, and have very good color (F - H) and clarity (VS1 - SI).

This gorgeous brooch closes with a push-pull type mechanism (trombone) that functions perfectly and that includes a security clasp. The Brooch is stamped with the French mascaron (man's head) for platinum, but the pin was replaced at a later time and bears the 18K Eagle head solid gold stamp. A minor soldering where the pin was replaced is noticeable but not intrusive. This exquisite brooch is in excellent estate condition and only shows the minor repair mentioned above.

This is a great quality item for the price!
