An adorable pink bear couple hugger S&P shaker set that are designed to be used at the same time by putting your fingers around the neck. They are just so cute and stamped on the behind Van Telligen C Bear Hug and PAT PEND on bottom. Original stoppers. Markings denote that these are early pieces made between 1951-1958

Condition: Excellent. Gently used as part of an incredible S&P collection. No nicks, chips or dings. Scuffs on bottom. Please look closely at all pictures.

Artist Information: Ruth Van Tellingen, was a children’s book illustrator. In the 1940s she was asked to design several products for the Regal China Co. / Royal China and Novelty Co. One of those lines became “Snuggle-Hugs” Salt & Pepper shakers featuring whimsical animals and insects. They were designed to fit together in a hugging position known today as “Huggers”. A clever design feature as both can be easily picked up and the salt and pepper dispensed at the same time using one hand. Made from 1947 – 1963 in Antioch, Illinois.
