Background info found on internet:
White Shrine of Jerusalem was founded by Charles D. Magee, at Chicago, Illinois, in 1894. The Order comprises both men and women, who must be members in good standing of the Order of the Eastern Star. The White Shrine was not recognized, however, as a branch of the Order of the Eastern Star. The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem is an organization for men and women with a connection to the Masonic fraternity. The mission of the Order is to uphold the simple religion of Christ and further his Gospel of “Peace and Good Will upon the Earth.” To do noble deeds and by acts of kindness and works of cheer make the world better and brighter to him or her who in the hour of sorrow and affliction sees nothing but darkness.
