Original oil painting of a man in a hat. This painting was painted in the 1800’s to early 1900’s. This man looks European to me as do the old stretcher bars. Would look great in a study or above a fireplace. Signed 'Hover' on the back of canvas. This has a few pinpoint spots of inpainting and one 1/4 size hole that was repaired. This could use a good cleaning. Except for the single repaired hole (lower left corner in burgundy sleeve), the canvas still looks healthy for age. Paint has craquelure but seams stable and I see a faint crease line where the stretcher bars are located. I also see a few pinpoint spots of paint loss that were never repaired. The painting measures 20 inches wide and 24 inches tall. The 1980’s frame measures 24-1/2 inches wide and 27-3/4 inches tall. Frame has some small spots of paint loss on edges. On the back of the frame, at top, someone wrote, 'Pat Murphy.' I do not know if this was the previous owner. This was purchased from an antique store. If you need more picture please ask and I will email them to you. This is still a wonderful painting and can be hung as is with little distraction from the old repairs.
