This is an old set of gambling tokens from Siam. Gaming tokens were primarily used in China and Siam which is now Thailand in the 1700’s and 1800’s. In rural areas sometimes traded as money. Each token is made of porcelain with various writing on both sides. They are in great condition with light crazing and very minor fleabites on edges which are normal from use. They measure from about 1/2 inch to 1 inch diameter. The rectangle is 3/8 inch to 5/8 inch. All but one are made with a relief design which made them more difficult to reproduce. The gaming houses were known to change their designs often to keep counterfeit tokens from being made. There are more than 10,000 known designs from that time and area. Each time a new token was used the old ones became void.
