Beautiful girl dressed in a tight blue harlequin outfit with one shoe missing. This is an original oil painting by one of the well-known ‘Big Eyed’ artists of the 1960's and 1970’s. Her name was Margaret Eugenia Jean Maio Stewart Toti Thomis but went by just Jean Maio as an artist. She was famous for her children with big eyes and her sexy female harlequins posing by ancient ruins. This is an oil painting on stretched canvas with a glossy varnish finish top coat. It is in great condition. I do see some expert touchups along the curve of her back and right edge. Even with a UV light it is difficult to see. I love this painting and the unique colors it offers. I have often wondered why she is missing her shoe. This was found in Yreka, California, in the middle of nowhere about 10 years ago. I went into an old store and in the back, in a dark corner, I saw this painting. I know it was the owners prize possession and it cost me a pretty penny. He did not want to part with it but after much haggling he did. It is so lovely that I had it cleaned and placed in a period frame. The painting measures 24 inches tall and 48 inches wide. Set in a nice frame that measures 28 inches tall and 52 inches wide.
