This is an adorable Keeshond dog print from the 1940’s. The model dog posing was called, ‘Johnnie.’ This old print measures 7-1/2 inches wide and 9-1/2 inches tall. In the newer wood frame it measures 12-1/4 inches wide and 15-1/4 inches tall. It is in great condition with no tears, holes or water damage. I went to an estate sale last year in Denver, Colorado. I found a book, ‘Dogs Rough And Smooth By Lucy Dawson’, I had many of the prints from the book framed, because, the book’s cover was too old and tattered. The pictures inside were in excellent condition for their age. This book was from the late 1930’s to 1940’s. If you look at the last photo you will see the original book. It was disposed of by Gladwyne Free Library. I am selling the prints that I had framed. If you look on my site for Lucy Dawson you will see all the breed pictures I have to offer. The book is NOT included in the sale. The Gladwyne Free Library is the ‘Heart of the Village’ of Gladwyne, a role it has filled since 1931 when it was founded by Maud and Stuart Bell in one room of the Gladwyne Community Hall. In 1951 the building was transferred by the Episcopal Diocese to the Library’s Board of Trustees, who continue to own, and lovingly maintain, the attractive old stone structure.
