19th century still life watercolor painting of red rose flowers on a table. This original watercolor painting on paper is signed in the center by stem, Caroline Mitchell 1898. The painting is in good condition with no tears or holes. I do see a very light staining most prevalent top right. It was from an old wooden backing which had started to change the paper color. It is now removed and the inside of the glass was cleaned using the original mat and frame. Inside the mat the painting measures 11 inches tall and 19 inches wide. In its original frame that measures 18-1/2 inches tall and 26-1/2 inches wide. Frame looks nice but does have some character with paint loss and missing gesso around the unrestored edges. I had a new paper backing and wire hanger put on as the original was unsafe.
