This is a wonderful example of an early filigree pin cushion. The top closes and keeps the pins safely inside with a good clasp on the outside. Clasp has slight wear through to the copper from use. The pincushion inside is a red velvet slightly deformed from use. I do not see a maker’s mark. The top has a bit of yellowing from possibly old glue as if something was glued to the top. The cage is made with tight swirls of metal ribbon. The cage is in great condition with no dents or breaks in the filigree. The bottom is slightly concave from someone using it to push pins into hard materials. The cage measures 1-1/2 inches tall and 1-1/2 inches diameter.
