This miniature 4 inch plate is a portrait painting of Saint Fabiola. It was made in Italy. It is in great condition with no damage. She was made around the 1950's -1960's for tourist. Saint Fabiola was an educated woman of means who lived in ancient Rome and converted to Christianity. She had suffered marital strife and she is often seen as the patron saint for people experiencing discord in their marriage or love life. The portrait is a smaller artist's representation of Jean-Jacques Henner's iconic image of Saint Fabiola, painted in 1885. There is a museum where one room is just portraits of her. In a one-room gallery in the Ahmanson Building at LACMA, The 300 some odd portraits of Saint Fabiola (patron saint of abused women), assembled by Belgian-born contemporary artist Francis Alys.
